Sanctus Real In The Studio
Several weeks back, my good friends from the band Sanctus Real were in the studio recording demos for their new CD. While I’ve spent time with them out on the road, this was the first time the entire band had been in my studio. We had a great time hanging out and laying down some tracks. It was great to hear some new material from the guys. Very kind of them to ask me to be a part of the process. If don’t know about Sanctus Real , you owe it to yourself to check them out. Click hear to find them on iTunes. Over their career they...

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a new project with a friend of mine, Nichole Matyas. She’s written a few songs that she wanted to get recorded. We started on the first song, only for me to quickly realize, I’m a bit out of my comfort zone here. I love how Nikki described the style she was going for – island music meets hip hop meets pop. Needless to say, I hadn’t recorded/produced a lot of music in that mash up of different styles. Regardless, we dove right in to see what we...

After a little bit of a break, we’re back! Things have really picked up since the holidays. Here’s a quick update on a few projects. Work continues on Lauren Miller’s CD. She has been back in the studio mostly working on vocal tracks. Kyle and Brandon will be in the studio with us next week to lay down some background vocals. When the four of us get together, you can certainly expect some craziness and lots of laughter. Hopefully we’ll be starting on the last song soon. I know it seems like this is the project that...

Officially, the guys were back in the studio today working on preparations for Christmas services at CedarCreek. However, the big news of the day is that mixing for the first ever live CedarCreek CD is done! You heard that right, live music recorded during a New Community service at our Toledo campus earlier this year. The guys have been working hard for the last few months mixing the tracks. Jason Smithers was leading the charge and the results are fantastic! Mastering was done by Brad Blackwood at Euphonic Masters and I got a chance to hear...

The ebb and flow of life can be pretty interesting sometimes. You know, how certain things take priority at certain times of life. Right now I’m sitting in a hospital room while my wife is recovering from surgery. Clearly there is nothing more important than for me to be here supporting her. While she lies here sleeping, I was reflecting a bit on this past year. The first two thirds of the year was so crazy. I work a full time job, have 15 year old and 12 year old kids (both of them active in school sports), work a part time job...
