Welcome to MadSam Recording, the recording studio of producer/engineer/artist Jeff Harris. While MadSam is primarily a personal use studio for Jeff and all the projects he’s involved in, it is available for outside projects upon request.
Our passion at MadSam Recording is to create amazing sounding recordings in a comfortable, creative and cost effective environment. MadSam Recording is a 2 room facility built from the ground up with proper acoustics and isolation in mind. In terms of gear, our objective was to put together a top of the line front end to ensure that we are capturing the source with the highest possible quality. Mixing is done in the box with some of the best plugins available.
The control room is approximately 19×14 providing a comfortable setting for numerous people. All acoustic treatments are built into the room. There is plenty of room to track live in the control room if desired.
At the heart of MadSam Recording is a Pro Tools system. Our Digi002 has been modified by Black Lion Audio for a number of sonic improvements. A nice collection of mics from Peluso, AKG, Shure, Audio Technica, and EV feed mic preamps from Avedis and Brent Averill. AD/DA conversion is handled by a Lynx Auroa 8 which is optically connected to the Digi002. Yamaha NS-10M and Urei 809A monitors are powered by Crown amps.
The live room is approximately 18×12 with enough space to track a 3 piece band. Acoustic treatment is from Auralex.
Numerous guitars and amps are available for use along with a Tama drum kit with multiple tom and snare options. Monitoring is provided via a Furman cue mix system allowing all musicians to create their own cue mix.
